Our Story

Founded in 1917, the Women’s League Child Development Center is a welcoming, family-friendly early childhood learning center located in the City of Hartford’s North End at 1695 Main Street. With a long history in the city, a dedicated and caring professional staff, and an enduring commitment to excellence, it’s an amazing place!

Our goal is to provide the highest quality early childhood education experiences possible for the children at our Center. We seek to develop the social, emotional, and educational skills children need for successful entry into kindergarten.

Our state-of-the-art building houses 17 vibrant classrooms. We provided high-quality early childhood education services to more than 250 infants and children ranging in age from three months to five years of age.

Our infant, toddler and preschool programs provide a vibrant, safe, stable, and stimulating environment that meets or exceeds the learning expectations defined by the Office of Early Childhood- Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS).  We also adhere to the quality standards set forth by the City of Hartford’s School Readiness program. We are the largest nonprofit, single site school readiness program in the City of Hartford.

A child’s socioeconomic status cannot be a barrier to his/her opportunities in life

Children love to learn when given the chance
