Our Donors are Valued Partners
in Educating Hartford’s Youngest Children

Education is the key to children’s success—in classrooms and life.  That’s why, for more than a century, we’ve been here for Hartford’s children and families. Gifts from people like you have made a world of difference every step of the way.

You make it possible for us to offer a sliding fee scale to families for whom access to top-quality early education is often impossible, to pay our outstanding staff and teachers fairly, to use leading-edge STEAM-oriented approaches to learning, and so much more.

As the largest single-site early education center in Greater Hartford, we remain determined to ensure that a family’s income is a never a barrier to children getting the high-quality educational start in life they deserve. You can help:

Our “Wish List” Includes

  • A new science lab. We aim to transform our second-floor space (currently used for storage!) into a stimulating, flexible science lab for our toddlers and preschoolers. We envision computer stations, microscopes, petri dishes, iPads, books, a mini-greenhouse, and more— all to nurture our children’s curiosity and exploration of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). These careers of the future offer more opportunities and higher pay, yet currently, Black and Hispanic people are underrepresented in those jobs.
  • STEAM educational materials for our (17!) classrooms

  • Musical instruments for our children because including the arts in early education fosters creativity, self-expression, collaboration, and problem solving.

  • An artist-in-residence

  • Tuition assistance for children’s education at Women’s League to unburden some of the many hardworking families in our neighborhood who rely on our sliding fee scale to educate their child and make ends meet.

  • New soft flooring for our community room to update the space where parents learn new skills and where children dance, play, and tumble— all to build up children’s well-being and love of learning.

  • Home libraries for our early learners to open new worlds to young minds, spark the joy of reading, and involve our parents and caregivers in their children’s learning. (One home library provides at least two new books per month for a full year to one of our children.)
